About Makaeli
Makaeli Burkham is a 22-year-old from Malaga, New Mexico. She grew up on a cow-calf operation with her parents, Roy and Samantha Burkham. She is a senior at Kansas State University majoring in animal science with a specialization in equine health and a minor in business. After graduation in 2023, Makaeli hopes to open her own equine rehabilitation center and spend her days doing what she loves-- caring for equine athletes.
Makaeli's passion for the western way of life started at a young age. She has been involved in rodeo since she was just four years old and now competes for the K-State Rodeo Team in barrel racing. Makaeli enjoys being a liaison for the sport and is a current team captain. Outside of rodeo, Makaeli spends most of her time with her dog-- hiking and enjoying the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas.
